Tired of being alone?
One complaint I hear from folks about P90x and the other Beachbody fitness programs is “it’s boring to work out alone”. Well, I agree – it can be lonely when you’re all alone without anyone to encourage you. It’s hard when it’s just you and a DVD stuck in an empty hallway at 6am in the morning. If you can relate to this and want to break out of it, have you ever considered getting a partner, starting a get-together, or joining a “fit club”? My wife and I did P90x together and it was great. True, it was hard many mornings to get up and push play, but it was also very rewarding to see physical results together, have similar nutritional goals, and to model togetherness and exercise for our 3-year old. Here’s another idea - how about just converting those DVD’s to audio on your mp3 player and doing the workouts at a gym? You really don’t need the video after you’ve memorized the programs. And many areas offer “fit clubs” – this is usually a free or low-cost event at a church, school, or gym hosted by a Beachbody coach for the purpose of introducing people to Beachbody programs and as a social mixer. If you have any other ideas to mix it up and avoid the solitary feel of “home-fitness” program, please share it. I feel great after a YogaX workout with my wife this morning – thanks honey! And I hope that all of you can also find good ways to share your fitness journey with others.

Insanity!
Saw a post tonight from my coach - one of the comments said it's "truth in labeling". Take a quick look at this for a little insight into it: http://beachbodycoach.com/esuite/home/RTHfit?bctid=25227773001 I wouldn't tackle this one straight off of the couch - Make sure you're ready for it. My buddy Ed says he's up for it after this round of P90x - I say we give it a try - how 'bout you?

Dumbells vs. Bands

Wondering if you should use bands or dumbbells for P90x? I would highly encourage dumbbells. Many of the moves are very awkward using the bands. In addition, it’s hard to maintain the exact same tension from week to week and thus hard to gauge your progress – the bands change tension depending on where you step on them. May I suggest you check out the Bowflex SelectTech 552 dumbbells. You can usually pick them up on Ebay for a little over $300. I know it’s pricey, but remember that you can easily resell them if you need to – much more marketable than plates. Plus they are so convenient. Just my 2 cents…

Thinking about skipping YogaX?

I came across this video of Tony Horton talking about YogaX - you’ve gotta check it out. Even though he’s being his usual crazy self, there’s a lot of truth in what he’s saying. And maybe you’re frustrated with the length of the YogaX workout – if so, consider stopping after around 45 minutes – right when they start getting to the “balance moves” section of the workout. It’s worked great for me. Hope it does for you too.

P90x One-on-One

Had a great Plyo workout with the FPL group this morning. Ed, Irina, Lisa, Guy – thanks guys for a great workout. If you’re looking for what to do after you finish a P90x round consider doing P90x One-one-one. This is a monthly workout by Tony Horton. It’s the “testing ground” for the next P90x-MC2 (“muscle confusion 2″) that’s scheduled for late 2011. Check out the following Message Board post on One-on-One. It answers some questions that folks have had on this program.
What is P90X One on One?
P90X One on One adds a new dynamic of Muscle Confusion to your workout library each month. Plateaus not welcome. This is Tony unscripted in his personal gym - no frills, no classroom, no cast (but plenty of confusion). P90X One on One works just like a magazine subscription: after you sign up you automatically receive a brand new workout every month. Best of all: you can cancel at any time.
Turn big profits from a small name change
P90X One on One is simply a continuation of Tony One on One. But the name changes for a good reason: Attaching the P90X brand to the One on One continuity program will enable Coaches to seamlessly transition their P90X customers from a 90-day contained product into a continuity program. “P90X One on One” is the Coaches’ answer to the question “What should I do after the 90 days?” P90X One on One will turn a one-time customer into an automatic repeat customer, creating an ongoing income stream for Coaches.
Tony is dedicating Volume 3 to be his “test kitchen” where he hammers out new workouts for the next P90X. The P90X sequel will go by the name “P90X:MC2” (MC2 stands for Muscle Confusion 2), and is scheduled to launch in late 2011.
P90X One on One subscribers can follow the making of P90X:MC2 every month and be the first to learn the new and crazy moves.
How long are the workouts?
In good P90X tradition the workouts will vary between 50 and 60 minutes.
What is the workout style and intensity?
In Volume 3 Tony is experimenting with different intensity levels. Tony is mixing things up to keep your muscles guessing. But beware! Some moves are ground-breaking and have never been done before. In Disc 1 “Chest, Back and Balls” Tony is testing his personal limits with a Plyo Push-up while balancing his feet and hands on stability balls. Unbelievable stuff. Don’t say we didn’t warn you…
Who is P90X One on One for?
P90X One on One offers a great opportunity for Coaches to reach out to P90X grads who are in good physical shape and are looking for more Muscle Confusion.
The 50% offer
Every subscriber (Coaches and customers) who purchase all 12 discs of P90X One on One, Volume 3 gets a 50% discount on P90X:MC2.
If you don’t join Volume 3 from the beginning (July 2010), no problem – you can still qualify for this offer. I’ll mostly be pointing you to useful and interesting content that I find on the subject of fitness and nutrition. But we’ll see where it goes.
