Tired of being alone?
One complaint I hear from folks about P90x and the other Beachbody fitness programs is “it’s boring to work out alone”. Well, I agree – it can be lonely when you’re all alone without anyone to encourage you. It’s hard when it’s just you and a DVD stuck in an empty hallway at 6am in the morning. If you can relate to this and want to break out of it, have you ever considered getting a partner, starting a get-together, or joining a “fit club”? My wife and I did P90x together and it was great. True, it was hard many mornings to get up and push play, but it was also very rewarding to see physical results together, have similar nutritional goals, and to model togetherness and exercise for our 3-year old. Here’s another idea - how about just converting those DVD’s to audio on your mp3 player and doing the workouts at a gym? You really don’t need the video after you’ve memorized the programs. And many areas offer “fit clubs” – this is usually a free or low-cost event at a church, school, or gym hosted by a Beachbody coach for the purpose of introducing people to Beachbody programs and as a social mixer. If you have any other ideas to mix it up and avoid the solitary feel of “home-fitness” program, please share it. I feel great after a YogaX workout with my wife this morning – thanks honey! And I hope that all of you can also find good ways to share your fitness journey with others.

Insanity!
Saw a post tonight from my coach - one of the comments said it's "truth in labeling". Take a quick look at this for a little insight into it: http://beachbodycoach.com/esuite/home/RTHfit?bctid=25227773001 I wouldn't tackle this one straight off of the couch - Make sure you're ready for it. My buddy Ed says he's up for it after this round of P90x - I say we give it a try - how 'bout you?

Dumbells vs. Bands

Wondering if you should use bands or dumbbells for P90x? I would highly encourage dumbbells. Many of the moves are very awkward using the bands. In addition, it’s hard to maintain the exact same tension from week to week and thus hard to gauge your progress – the bands change tension depending on where you step on them. May I suggest you check out the Bowflex SelectTech 552 dumbbells. You can usually pick them up on Ebay for a little over $300. I know it’s pricey, but remember that you can easily resell them if you need to – much more marketable than plates. Plus they are so convenient. Just my 2 cents…

Thinking about skipping YogaX?

I came across this video of Tony Horton talking about YogaX - you’ve gotta check it out. Even though he’s being his usual crazy self, there’s a lot of truth in what he’s saying. And maybe you’re frustrated with the length of the YogaX workout – if so, consider stopping after around 45 minutes – right when they start getting to the “balance moves” section of the workout. It’s worked great for me. Hope it does for you too.
